Technical Information
Neutral Roll
The NCCM Neutral Mill Roll is considered the finest, general-purpose non-woven roll covering for primary metal and AOEM stamping operations. It is the only non-woven roll made from an exceptionally strong special fiber and a complex resin system.
The Neutral roll is available in five densities (relating to hardness) for a whole array of application requirements.
Outstanding Characteristics:
Life, Cut Resistance, Fluid Control, Coefficient of Friction, Strength, Temperature Resistance*.
* Relative to typical operating temperatures for most roll coverings
Limitations:
Extreme pH
Quick Parameter Overview:
Operational pH Range: 2~10
Maximum Temperature*: 141°C (285°F)
* The Neutral Mill Roll is successful in applications well beyond this temperature that have been assessed by NCCM Mill Roll technical representatives and approved.
CX Series
An ideal choice for harsh chemistries
NCCM™ Mill Rolls are today’s high-performance alternative to rolls made from rubber, felt, urethane and other conventional materials. Because of their unique non-woven synthetic fiber construction, NCCM Mill Rolls can last longer with less maintenance – while helping to improve process quality and consistency. These production-proven products are available in a variety of sizes and configurations, to meet the requirements of your most challenging applications.
NCCM Mill Rolls CX and CX-Plus are specially engineered to perform in aggressive chemical environments, such as electrolytic lines for tinning, chroming or galvanizing; or on pickling, caustic cleaning or coil coating lines. They can make a significant contribution to increased productivity in the following ways:
Outstanding Characteristics:
Low Maintenance, Life*, Cut Resistance and Recovery, Fluid Control, Coefficient of Friction*
* = relative to typical roll materials in most applications
Limitations:
Excessive pressure beyond specifications
Quick Parameter Overview:
Operational pH Range: 0~14
Maximum Temperature*: 100°C (212°F)
* This temperature is considered the maximum requirement for the roll as of today during product development. NCCM Mill Roll technical representatives must be consulted about applications exceeding this maximum temperature.
RK Roll
The NCCM RK Mill Roll was designed to be the world's best bridle roll and top choice when large diameters, coefficient of friction, and long life are the major design criteria. The RK Mill Roll was released in 1995 to supply the end user with world-class coefficient of friction and roll life at a lower unit cost in large roll diameters compared to the Neutral Mill Roll.
The RK Mill Roll is made from many of the same components as the NCCM Neutral Mill Roll. Therefore, the RK Mill Roll similarly offers exceptional life and coefficient of friction.
Additionally, the RK Mill Roll is a unique unified sleeve design, as opposed to laminated discs. This sleeve construction makes the RK Mill Roll the most durable non-woven roll on the market in terms of edge-cut. The RK Mill Roll is close to the "install it and forget it" roll that many maintenance and line supervisors require.
The RK Mill Roll remains a premium bridle roll recognized for great, consistent, and long-lived coefficient of friction in some of the most demanding operations - particularly aluminum applications. There are numerous cases of slipping bridle problems solved by the NCCM RK Mill Roll to indicate that it is an effective solution for this problem.
The RK Roll has shown that its coefficient of friction capabilities can reduce the number of bridle drives needed for new line designs. This can save cash associated with the considerable costs of bridle rolls in terms of floor space costs, capital equipment costs, roll costs, long-term maintenance costs, among other more specific costs.
Besides the great life and coefficient of friction, the RK Mill Roll also offers the traditional NCCM Mill Roll value factor of minimizing marking of the strip. All these factors have also made the RK Mill Roll a major success for large diameter deflector rolls (e.g., the exit end of push pull pickle lines before the recoiler).
The RK Mill Roll is available in one density and in limited sizes. The outside diameter (OD) to inside diameter (ID) relationship of the sleeve type RK Mill Roll is always the same regardless of size: OD = ID + 1.5" (38mm)
Nominal OD sizes: 18"(457mm), 30"(762mm), 36"(914mm), 42"(1067mm), 48"(1219mm)
Outstanding Characteristics:
Coefficient of Friction, Life
Limitations:
Roll/Shaft size options, sleeve design is not repairable
Quick Parameter Overview:
Operational pH Range: 2~10
Maximum Temperature*: 141°C (285°F)
*The RK Mill Roll is successful in applications well beyond this temperature that have been assessed by NCCM Mill Roll technical representatives and approved by them.
